Education: Mac: master's degree in business; Pat: four years college for RN licensure

Year Started Business: 1998

Type of Business: Wellness consulting and setting up success and health plans, as well as global wellness businesses through their partnership with Nikken. "For those not interested in setting up a wellness business (to create financial wellness and quality of life), we help to develop a wellness plan through the use of our wellness technologies. We teach people the importance of being the OWNERS [O=Oxygen/Cardiovascular, W=Living Water, N=Nutrition for body & skin, E=Exercise(fitness) & Energy, R= Rest/Relaxation/Sleep, S = Success Plan] of their health and success plans."

Market: "We have an incredible market base…everyone. Wellness is an essential. Young people need to invest in wellness proactively if they hope to decrease the rising obesity and illness rates striking our young. Athletes embrace the competitive edge and the ability to prevent injury or recover quicker. The Baby Boomers are the driving force of our wellness revolution. They wish to age with grace, reduce or eliminate hurting, reduce aging, and invest in better health than they may have enjoyed in their 20s or 30’s. Our product technologies actually deal in the total balance of wellness: health and fitness plus finances equals total wellness. Our financial market is open to anyone who wishes to create their wealth by creating their health and teaching others to do the same. For those with entrepreneurial ability, they will wish to be a part of the next trillion dollar industry: wellness."

Number Of Employees: None

Best Month (Gross Revenues): $19,000

Hours Worked Per Week During Start-Up: Whatever it took

Hours Worked Per Week Now: "It’s difficult to gage the average hours of 'business' we do weekly because what traditional business owners would view as 'time off' or a balanced lifestyle is actually what we do for our business. What we do is live a lifestyle of wellness and travel and make new friends while sharing a message. If we could estimate the hours, it would range from 20 to 40 hours [a week]. At this stage in our business, if we chose too, we are able to take a week off every month.

Favorite Business Magazines: UPLINE Journal and Nikken Family Magazine

Favorite Business Books Or Authors: Robert Kiyosaki. "We enjoy all of his books—Rich Dad, Poor Dad; Cash Flow; etc.). We love how he helps people shift from inside the box (employees/self-employed) to living outside the box to creating financial success. One key idea he teaches is that the only thing different between the 'haves' and 'have nots' is their comfort with words. If you become comfortable with the expanded vocabulary used by the rich, you can create wealth. You must develop the courage to ACT on what you have learned, and this will result in the ability to create financial success and achieve freedom. He teaches that unless you can create time leverage, you will either not have enough time and freedom or income. If you learn to create a business and leverage, there are no limitations to your freedom and income potential. We also love Think And Grow Rich [by Napoleon Hill] and The Power of Focus [by Jack Canfield] …These books teach positive focus, simple and powerful steps to create a future you wish, and how not to accept living by default."

Relaxes By: "We love to live life in balance and are very careful to incorporate time into every day that is our time to relax and recharge. We do many different activities to relax. We live on a lake, so many days you will find us out on our kayaks just enjoying the exercise of paddling, while listening to the sounds of nature and really cherishing our time...For exercise, we walk daily, which is relaxing and invigorating. On stormy days, we might sit by a roaring fire with a great book and share our quality time together. We love to ski, boat, hike, raft, go to movies, and play tennis. To really unwind, we take at least a week off and travel globally at least four times a year."

Keeps In Shape By: "We lead by example. We are wellness consultants. We teach people to set goals in five areas of their lives: body, mind, family, and society and finances. We set aside a portion of our day for exercise because doing so is not only setting a great example but is also actually one-fifth of our business…There isn’t a day we don’t exercise because it fits into our lifestyles and schedule."

Favorite Part Of The Job: "Our interaction with people. It brings us incredible joy when the 'light bulb' comes on and the individuals we are educating realize they truly can be the OWNERS of their health and success plans and begin on a path to better their lives, both in their health and finances. It’s a real joy to see many people who have given up on any quality of life suddenly embrace the options that give them back their lives…What is really fun is when people realize that they truly can be the best that they can be and strive to significantly improve their lives."

Least Favorite Part Of The Job: "When we meet people with great potential and who actually wish to improve their quality of life and/or health, but step back into their box of limitations and disappointments because a person close to them tears them down and succeeds in returning them to a limited life. It is very difficult to watch people remain in discomfort, in their life situation, or with limited health when there is an answer. It saddens us when we see people openly excited to begin to take care of their health and improve their lifestyle suddenly walk away reluctantly because someone they are close to doesn’t wish for them to change. They allow this person to take away their power to grow, improve, and be free from physical and/or financial hurt."

Admired Companies: Nikken and The Walt Disney Company. "We admire companies that have an incredible vision—a vision laid out well into the future—and companies willing to work to bring about their vision…one which leads with integrity, a balanced philosophy, and a strong family core and who encourages people to step out and be the best that they can be."

Favorite Quotes: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are we not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others. – Nelson Mandela; You don’t have to be great to get started, but you to have to get started to become Great. Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality. – Les Brown; The Challenge: Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you. – Jim Rohn

The Person Who Most Influenced Your Life: Mac—"My mom was the biggest influence on my life. She always told me I could do anything I wished to do, as long as I made the decision to do it. She was always positive. She encouraged me to always do my best, maintain a positive outlook, and with what ever I chose to do, strive to impact people in a positive way. She led by example. No days were negative, although some were 'character building days.' She taught me never to ask of others what I was not willing to first do myself. And to live my life with honesty and integrity and to make a difference in the world." Pat—"Two people impacted my life in a major way. For the first half of my life, it was my dad. From the time I was small, he encouraged me to dream BIG dreams, global dreams. He told me I could achieve anything I set my mind to, I just had to visualize my goals and dreams, and then find out what actions would move me toward my dreams and take these steps with consistency. He taught me to set habits early on to learn new words everyday, seek out knowledge daily, and be comfortable in seeking out people who are high achievers and ask questions. He instilled in me quite early to seek a career that I was passionate about and seek to create this into a lifestyle and to except no limitations. The second person who has impacted me the most is my husband Mac, my best friend and mentor. He’s taught me that I have no weaknesses, only lesser-developed strengths. He’s helped me to continue to reach past the outer layers of my comfort zone and push through to new heights. He’s shown me that every day is special. We need to be the best we can be and teach others to do the same. He’s taught me that everyone we meet has special gifts, and to see them, let them know their gifts, and inspire them to make an impact. We live life to its fullest and begin and end each day with gratitude."

Heroes: Pat—"My husband is my hero. He truly loves life and people. Everyone he comes in contact with feels his caring and respect. He feels we all should be ambassadors of good will and helps everyone we touch be the best they can be. Second is Colin Powell. We have watched his career with great respect. He is a great role model, leading by example. He models that there are no limitations if you set your mind on reaching the stars. Lead with integrity and honesty and have a big vision. Except no limitations or labels, and find out what it is you need to do, then do it."

Special Accomplishments: "The two awards we are the most proud of are The President’s Club and The Polar Bear Award. The President’s Club Award is awarded to those who have met the highest standards. They have developed a strong business, helped six or more leaders on their team develop strong businesses, and unselfishly helped others with their mentorship and leadership…[For the Polar Bear Award], we chose a project to work with our neighbors and clean up a lake. We worked with over 80 people, and, over a summer, did a major lake cleanup."
